Cretan dance, art and physical exercise
Cretan folk dances are expressive of the cultural creativity of local people and have been passed down from generation to generation. These folk dances differ among the various regions of the island of Crete with regard to their form, movements and length.
The variety of these dances is closely related to, and springs from the history, civilization, beliefs and traditions of the society, which created them. There are four main Cretan dances: Sirtos, Susta, Pentozalis, Maleviziotis
