GIANNIS ANDRONOGLOU - GREEK TRADITIONAL MUSIC AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION IN THE COMPOSITION OF GUITAR WORKS
The musical event that we are called to analyze is the involvement of Greek guitar composers with Greek traditional music. More specifically, we will be concerned with research questions such as: what is data lending? are they kept intact as musical themes, rhythms, techniques or indirectly as popular melodies? In addition, issues arise concerning the musical-aesthetic and historical context, such as the Greek guitarists who dealt with this subject, their influence from abroad and the degree of synchronicity with global aesthetic trends in the composition of works for guitar. This paper attempts the analysis of selected works of Greek guitar composers in comparison with their traditional standards. Then we place the analysis of the raw material in the general historical and musical-aesthetic conditions of the time of composition of these works. Their comparative approach in relation to international guitar developments contributes to the cultural understanding of the musical event in question.
